Ever since kindergarten, I have been obsessed with mathematics. Every afternoon, the children would be entertained with the Japanese anime Detective Conan. Since it is a detective story, some scenes depicted gory murder scenes. I was very timid and only dared to peek from behind the door. Near the door, there was a cabinet with shelves filled with many mental arithmetic problems. To give myself something to do, I picked up a stack of arithmetic problems and started solving them. That's when I began to excel in math.
In the town of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, I met Kris Sorrells and Kara Weimer, two outstanding math teachers who solidified my decision to pursue mathematics. At Penn State, I spent four carefree years making friends and studying math. Linda Westrick, during my linear algebra classes, once loudly praised, "Math is social." She dedicated the first five minutes of each class to a warm-up activity where we discussed and solved problems with our neighbors. This practice became a core belief of mine.
Mathematics has never left my life. I believe it has brought me many things that might not seem so mathematical. In Theory, it is Feasible... contains three projects: Gatsby, Board Game, and Random Walk.
